The National Scorpion Association organises racing events and events to promote the class every year. The Silver Scorpion Travellers' series of Open Meetings sponsored by CraftInsure are spread over the season and over the country. The annual highlight is the National Championships, which were hosted in 2023 by Eastbourne Sovereign Sailing Club in Sussex. The 2024 Championships is at Castle Cove SC in Weymouth.


Chew Valley SC Silver Scorpion Open

The Chew Valley 2023 Silver Scorpion Open was won by National Champions Tom Gillard and Rach Gray from Staunton Harold SC sailing their new P&B Winder boat 2057 winning the 15 boat event with 5 straight wins.

Sam Pascoe & Sam Barker from Castle Cove SC sailing their new boat were second with a third, three seconds and a win.

Pete Gray & Rich Pepperdine from Staunton Harold SC sailing their new boat were third followed by Dan Henderson & Amy Clay from Warsash SC, Dave Winder & Rob Gardner from Notts County, Chris Martin & John Tailby from Bartley / Notts County and Angus & Fraser Hemmings.

Debi Forbes & Char Graham from Staunton Harold were 8th, followed by Tom Lonsdale & Emily Cole-Evans from South Cerney / Northampton, then Vince Horey & Andy Thompson from King George, Malcolm James & Jon Stevenson and David Bennett & Sam Simmonds both from the host club.

Tom Daniel & Alison Sheldrick sailing 1052 built by her father in the late 1960s (more here...) came 13th followed by Richard Gatehouse & Lauren Wills from Sidmouth and Bill Jackson & Class Chairman Chris Yates from Llandegfedd.
