As a class we’re returning to Penzance, the venue of our 21 Champs which was a fab week. Penzance are a super friendly club, really helpful and sailing in Mounts Bay is stunning. Really looking forward to this one.
We’re actively supporting Youth entries and so entry is only £75 for full youth (Helm and Crew <21) and £150 for semi-youth (Helm or Crew <21), with full entry £285. Entry is available here...

There will be a full Social Programme for the week, starting with the Commodore’s reception on the Saturday evening and the SWHAGs (Scorpion Wives, Husbands, Girlfriends, Boyfriends etc etc) lunch on the Sunday, 3rd August 2025, and ending with the Fancy Dress Party on the Thursday night and Prize Giving on the Friday morning (assuming the weather gods have smiled on us we’ve got our minimum of 6 races in). We’ll update full details of the socials over the coming weeks.
Entry includes 2 meals for Helm and Crew on the Sunday and Wednesday nights and extra tickets for family and friends will also be available.
Tuesday evening will be Fish and Chips evening (you’ll need them after the highlight of the week, the AGM) and we’ll take orders for this during and after registration.
Our Race Officer for the week is Marcus Wilkinson, a very experienced RO. As per the last few champs the intention is to use Gate Starts and use a combination of triangles and sausages for the courses. Full info for the Gate Starts will be in the SI’s (we’re aiming to publish them June time) and the plan is to display gate open time on the stern of committee boat, determined on the day of race and weather.
We will again have drone footage and photos from the racing c/o the wonderful Lee. As a heads up, Penzance require us to use bow numbers and every boat to carry a tow rope and these will be reflected in the relevant documents.
There is a mahoosive car park (Harbour Long Stay Car Park) right by Penzance Sailing Club and you can buy a week long ticket for £26.30 (full info on car park here )
Alan Ritchie has spoken to Ponsandane Camping who we used last time and they have reserved space for Scorps to camp together. Late bookers may be silly bookers and put elsewhere though!
