Social Programme

The 2024 Scorpion National Championships social programme is coming together, from SHWAGs lunch to on and off water coaching, it’s going to be a week not to be missed. A full social programme will be released on the official notice board in due course, but here’s a little teaser…

The week will kick off with the traditional commodore’s reception on Saturday evening, a great opportunity to get up to speed with the details of the week ahead, meet up with old friends and chat to new ones. Then on Sunday whilst the sailors head out to race, the SHWAGs will get their prosecco on!

As well as photography and drone footage, Adam Bowers will be joining us for the week, with daily off-water coaching sessions pre-launch, before heading out on the water and sharing his top tips.

But the week wouldn’t be complete without post sailing snacks, Pro-Am drinks, games, good food and obviously the annual fancy dress party. Theme to be announced…

There’s also loads to do in the Weymouth and Portland area, as usual we will put together information for days out and things to do. Access to and from the club is easy, with the Rodwell trail right outside the door, and as CCSC are planning on keeping the club car free for the week (in order to accommodate us all) it’ll be a great chance to get the bikes out! More details on parking options to come, keep your eyes on the official noticeboard for all the event details you need.

Racing

All the info you need on the racing is included in the NOR and SI’s (the SI’s will be published in due course) which are hosted on the ONB, so please ensure you are familiar with them, but a few bits to highlight. We’ll be racing a combination of triangle/sausage/triangle or sausage/triangle/sausage with either downwind finishes or upwind finishes. Races will last an hour plus or minus with 2 races a day planned but may change dependent on the weather.

We will have a WhatsApp group specific for the Champs which will be push only, so it’ll just be the race committee using it to update you on what is happening eg 1 hour postponement etc.

Other information

Pro/Am

This was set up to help get people throughout the fleet chatting to each other, with the idea that they help each other out as much as possible and results improve as a consequence. We’ll share more info in due course.

Drone footage and Photos

Yet again we have a professional providing drone and video footage as well as taking stills. We’ll share details of how you can order shots and footage.

Social media

We’ll share content across all our Social media channels (WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram and TikTok) so worth giving them a follow now.

Prize List

Here’s the draft list of all the prizes (and categories) on offer- we’ll confirm them in due course. You'll get a chance at registration to confirm the categories you are entered in.
